During imports / exports sometimes the Customs department or Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) find some irregularity like - under valuation or over valuation or mis-declaration or mis-classification, etc. and seize the goods covered by Bill of Entry or Shipping Bill and issues Show Cause Notice (SCN) to the Importer / Exporter for demanding Customs duties / IGST / Interest / Penalties. Sometimes Gold / Silver / Diamond / Jewellery also seized by the Customs or DRI at airport or sea port under the charges of smuggling. During adjudication process, if proper reply or defence submission have not been submitted, then the Customs department passes order demanding Customs duties / IGST / Interest / Penalties.
